Gail R. Mitchell - President / Founder
Ms. Mitchell created Empowering Caregivers, care-givers.com in 1998 and the President and Founder of National Organization For Empowering Caregivers (NOFEC) INC in 2001 as a result of her personal experiences as a caregiver. Ms. Mitchell is a national keynote speaker and has presented at caregiver conferences. She provides workshops and seminars locally to family caregivers as well as professionals and has been interviewed on television, radio and in magazines..
Prior to this Ms. Mitchell has been the principal of a Production Company - Talent Agency in Los Angeles - producing of conventions, industry conferences, celebrity fundraising events. She founded a destination management firm, Sedona Source in Arizona. Ms. Mitchell is a graduate from the University of Pennsylvania.
Alison Morain - Secretary
Ms. Morain is the Project Coordinator State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center Anesthesiology Department. She has over 10 year experience in higher education. She holds a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration from Baruch College, and a BA in Sociology from the City College of New York. Ms. Morain is versatile in many areas such as policy and procedure development, corporate communications, and training and development.
Carolyn Hill -
Ms. Hill is an experienced professional with over 25 years of experience in public, private and non-profit management experience. Ms. Hill was the administrative director of the International Early Lung Cancer Action Program at Weill Medical College, where she managed a 37 member collaboration of medical institutions throughout the world. She holds a M.A. in Public Communications from American University and a B.A. from the University of Rhode Island.
Oma Morey, Ph.D.
Dr. Morey received her Ph.D. in Adult Education and Gerontology from the University of Texas at Austin in 2000. She currently holds a split appointment as Geriatric Medical Educator with the Office of Educational Development and the Sealy Center on Aging and Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine. From 2000 to 2005, she was the director of the Stanford University Faculty Development Program “Geriatrics in Primary Care. She has been involved with education in the public, private, and non-profit sectors for over 15 years. In 1993 she became the primary caregiver to her mother who had Alzheimer's disease. Her six and one-half years as a caregiver profoundly influenced her professional career, redirecting her towards the fields of Gerontology and Geriatrics.
Dr. Morey has presented and conducted workshops at national and international conferences and has published in the adult education literature. Her research interests include caregiving issues surrounding learning and spirituality, and physician communication with the elderly and their caregivers. She provides consultation with faculty to development their teaching and presentation skills.
Kathleen Triche DSW, CSW
Dr. Triche received her Doctor of Sociology from Wurzweiler School of Social Work at the Yeshiva University in 1994. and has completed the Couples Program at the Training Institute for Mental Health in 2006. She was nominated for the Rose Zeitlin Goldstein Award from the Jewish Federation in 1989 and the Ohio State University Award in Excellence for Dissertation research in May 1997. Her academic appointments have included field instructor with Hunter Graduate School of Social Work, Wurzeiler at Yeshiva University, New York University Graduate School of Social Work and she is presently an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University Graduate School of Social Work. Currently with the Village Care of New York, Dr. Triche is the research coordinator for “Care Management and Falls Prevention in Seniors” and the Director of Community Social Services, Adminster Village and Chelsea Senior Information Centers. She is also a consultant for the National Parkinson Foundation as a team trainer, regarding patient caregiver issues.
Odile Weissenborn
Ms. Weissenborn is a free lance producer for CNN. She has held a number of production position with CNN since 1995 including assignments at the United Nations and coverage of the 9/11 attacks. Prior to that she worked at ABC-News. Ms. Weissenborn holds a B.A. in International Studies from Vassar College, and has studied Journalism at Harvard University.
